Hello, my name is Helen Garfield and I’m the artist and illustrator behind Kitty Cats Joy. I live in North Petherton, Somerset in the UK with my husband, son and two step children.
How did Kitty Cats Joy get started?
In early 2019 I started Kitty Cats Joy as a cat themed gift shop. As I was settling into creating art more again, I decided to turn it into a space to share my own artwork and ideas. Along the way I have developed my art style and have enjoyed exploring this in new and interesting ways.About the art
In my artwork, which almost always features cats, I love to incorporate fun colours, brush textures, painterly effects, plants as well as photography into my work. I start with a hand-drawn sketch and then upload the outline and digitally re-create with a black outline. I add life to the cat by colouring it in with watercolour and acrylic paint textures that I have painted myself, photographed and uploaded to add to the artwork. I like to experiment with my art and use it again in different ways, to achieve something new. With all my artwork I aim to create a joyful experience and to bring people fun and positivity to their everyday moments. I hope you enjoy my art and illustrations as much as I enjoy creating them!Why just cats?
